Welcome to The Quarries Farm

Providing a venue for health and wellbeing through social farming and social forestry

Growing Connections Project is a collabouration between The Quarries Farm and Growing Connections NI (GCNI), a local member led charity. The project is based at our farm outside Bangor in Northern Ireland. The personal experiences and circumstances of the farm owners, led them to explore the value of working with nature and connecting with like-minded people as a way of promoting personal well-being.

Activities on the farm began in February 2009, with a long term vision to establish a venue where people could connect with nature and each other. We now have growing space for families and individuals, accomodation for hens, pigs and horses, 13 acres of mature and newly planted woodland and space for groups to meet, such as our Greenwoodworking club which meets on Saturdays.

Read on to learn about our project and to see how you can get involved. Let's make a difference together!

Do something nice for a friend, or a stranger. Thank someone. Smile. Volunteer your time. Join a community group. Look out as well as in. Seeing yourself, and your happiness, linked to the wider community can be incredibly rewarding and creates connections with the people around you. – nef research project
